About Me:

Born and raised in West Chester, Pennsylvania, I moved to Asheville, North Carolina with the arrival of 2016, shortly after a halfway-successful attempt by my friend and I to bicycle from West Chester to Asheville. Music and electricity have been close to my heart since I was young. My father was a guitarist and an electronic controls technician. The environment of my childhood was full of music and electronics, and I began learning about electronics as early as age 6. I began studying drumming in school at age 8. I feel lucky that my parents always welcomed my friends and I to practice music at our house, growing up. Silent Audio developed organically from these early origins. For over two decades, I've been collaborating musically and showing leadership in recording and resolving technical difficulties.

After arriving here almost 10 years ago, I worked as an electrician and also a custom jeweler, as Silent Audio developed. Earlier on it was called "Repairs by Augustus," until around 2019. Around then, I chose to dedicate myself to the mastery of this field of work, instead of continuing to be a "jack-of-all-trades". Some of the skills obtained while practicing as an electrician, and as a jeweler, perfectly support the work of Silent Audio. My electrician skill is comparable to that of a master, and is supported by having pursued advanced learning in electrical engineering. Many of these advanced concepts intersect with electronics engineering, and support swift troubleshooting of electromagnetic interefence (EMI), and radio frequency interference (RFI). My self-education in electrical & electronics engineering, not to mention many other sciences, has always been a self-motivated and natural inclination of mine. Countless books, online-resources, and opportunities to gain experience continue to enable my development, one challenge, one curiosity, and one opportunity at a time.

Here is a cute story: One evening, a neighborhood-friend's father called my parents on the land-line telephone when I was 11 years old, asking if I could come up the street and attempt to repair his home stereo system. Upon arrival, I recall the atmosphere in the room was that it seemed a bit odd, to everyone except for him, that a parent-chaperoned 11-year-old has come to fix a grown man's stereo system. Nonetheless, I got right to it. We found the issue and I knew what was needed, explaining as I worked... It became an exciting success! We all rejoiced, and listened together for a while.
Thanks for that first call, Jack Armstrong!

Since then, I've been fortunate to be able to service some of the finest audio electronics and musical instruments in the world.

Music brings people together like nothing else, and it helps people (cats and dogs?) to heal, have fun, and live well.

Let's make it sound good!
