About Me:

Born and raised in West Chester, Pennsylvania, I moved to Asheville, North Carolina with the arrival of 2016, shortly after a halfway-successful attempt by my friend and I to bicycle from West Chester to Asheville. Music and electricity have been close to my heart forever. My parents loved music, and my father was an electronic controls technician and amateur guitarist. The environment of my childhood was full of music, instruments, and electronics, so I began learning about them as early as age 6. I began studying drumming at age 8. I'm grateful that my parents always allowed my friends and I to play live music at our house, growing up. Silent Audio developed organically from these origins. For over two decades I've been collaborating musically and showing leadership in recording and resolving technical difficulties.

After arriving here I worked as an electrician and practiced custom jewelry fabrication, while Silent Audio was developing. Earlier on it was called "Repairs by Augustus," until 2019. Around that time, I chose to dedicate myself to the mastery of this field, instead of continuing to be a "jack-of-many-trades". Some of the skills obtained while practicing as an electrician and jeweler, though, uniquely support my work at Silent Audio. I'm a "master" electrician, and having pursued advanced education in electrical and electronics engineering supports problem solving in design and repairs, particularly of electromagnetic interference (EMI). Self-education has always been a passion of mine, from electricity and engineering, to many other fields and sciences. Over the years, I have persevered relentlessly through countless unimaginably challenging opportunities, mostly for the valuable experience and knowledge that my eventual success had to offer.

Here is a cute story: One evening, a neighborhood-friend's father called my parents on the land-line telephone when I was 11 years old, asking if I could come up the street and attempt to repair his home stereo system. Upon arrival, I recall the atmosphere in the room was that it seemed a bit odd, to everyone except for him, that a parent-chaperoned 11-year-old has come to fix a grown man's stereo system. Nonetheless, I got right to it. We found the issue and I knew what was needed, explaining as I worked... It became an exciting success! We all rejoiced, and listened together for a while.
Thanks for that first call, Jack Armstrong!

Since then, I've been fortunate to be able to service some of the finest audio electronics and musical instruments in the world.

Music brings people together like nothing else, and it helps people (cats and dogs?) to heal, have fun, and live well.

Let's make it sound good!
